That is how you start off a week! After a rough patch last week we went 7-3 yesterday. Now we look to keep the momentum going with 15 games today!
Arizona at Miami:
Merrill Kelly is going for the Diamondbacks. That is a huge advantage over Connor Gillispie and the Marlins. We see this being a comfortable win for Arizona. Pick: Arizona
Win
Seattle at Cincinnati:
Luis Castillo makes his return to Cincinnati after the Reds traded him to the Mariners a few years ago. He will be looking to dominate his old team, and keep Seattle’s four game winning streak going. We think he does that. Pick: Seattle
Loss
Washington at Pittsburgh:
Jake Irvin has not been good for the Nationals so far this year. Granted, he has faced three good offenses and Pittsburgh is definitely the weakest team he has faced. We think a bounce back is in order and he will lead the Nationals to victory. Pick: Washington
Win
San Francisco at Philadelphia:
The Phillies are just four and six in their last ten games, and the offense is the biggest reason why they are faltering. The Giants just keep winning, but today won’t be one of those days. Give us the Phillies today. Pick: Philadelphia
Win
Boston at Tampa Bay:
That was an ass kicking the Rays gave the Red Sox yesterday. A 16-1 drubbing is not what you want to open a series if you are the Red Sox, who had to go the bullpen in the third inning. Now Boston has Walker Buehler going, who is looking give the team some innings. The Rays will be patient, get to the bullpen, and win again. Pick: Tampa Bay
Loss
Cleveland at Baltimore:
Charlie Morton has been bad this year. He has given up 17 hits in 13 innings, and has an 0-3 record coming out of the gate. He has also walked eight batters in his three starts. If the Guardians do one thing well offensively, it is work the count. That is bad for Morton. Very bad. Pick: Cleveland (Lock)
Win (Lock record 9-11)
Kansas City at New York Yankees:
The Royals have a Yankees problem. New York beat them in the playoffs last year, and won yesterday to take the opening game of the series. Kansas City is a young and hungry team, but the veteran presence of the Yankees will just be too much to overcome. Pick: New York Yankees
Win
Atlanta at Toronto:
The braves remembered how to hit a baseball! They scored eight runs yesterday behind two home runs from Austin Riley, who is pretty much the only one hitting for Atlanta right now. With Kevin Gausman pitching for the Blue Jays today, they need more than one guy to carry their lineup. Give us Toronto in a low scoring game. Pick: Toronto
Win
Detroit at Milwaukee:
Don’t look now, but the first team to double digit wins in the American League is the…. Detroit Tigers!! They also have the best run differential in the junior circuit, which makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is the Milwaukee Brewers not being able to pitch. That has been their bread and butter for years, but so far this year they have given up over five runs a game. We like the Tigers here. Pick: Detroit
Loss
New York Mets at Minnesota:
Bailey Ober has only given up one run in each of his last two starts, but still has an awful ERA because of his first start against St. Louis. The problem for the Twins is the Mets are hot right now, having gone 8-2 in their last ten games. Give us the Metropolitans here. Pick: New York Mets
Loss
Athletics at Chicago White Sox:
These were supposed to be two of the worst teams in baseball. So far that is the case as the White Sox and Athletics have the two worst records in the American League. Chicago is much worse than the Athletics and this game isn’t in Sacramento, so this is an easy pick for us. Pick: Athletics
Win
Houston at St. Louis:
St. Louis is right in the thick of things in the National League Central. Four of the five teams have either eight or nine losses. This division will once again produce the worst division winner in the National League. Meanwhile, the Astros have a negative run differential, which is noteworthy only because everyone else in the American League West does as well. Baseball is funny! Anyway, give us the Astros here. Pick: Houston
Win
Los Angeles Angels at Texas:
Patrick Corbin is getting another turn in the rotation for the Rangers. We like Corbin and he seems like a nice guy, but he just isn’t the pitcher he used to be. He has been awful the last few years, and nothing we saw in his last start changes our mind. Pick: Los Angeles Angels
Loss
Chicago at San Diego: The Padres won yesterday to raise their home record to astounding 11-0. We are going to pick them until they lose. Pick: San Diego
Loss
Colorado at Los Angeles Dodgers:
Again, not overthinking this one. Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers
Win
Happy picking everyone!
