Ten Daily Musings for 11/18/2022:
The MVP’s of the Major League Baseball were announced yesterday with Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt winning. We figured Judge would win, but that Ohtani would get more than two first place votes.
Both first place votes for Ohtani was out of Los Angeles. That does not surprise us.
The Seattle Mariners made the first big move of the offseason, trading for Teoscar Hernandez. They needed more thump in their lineup and the price wasn’t high. Good trade.
Team USA is no longer than the #1 ranked basketball team in the world. That honor now goes to Spain. It has been 12 years since anyone other than USA was number one in the world.
Kawhi Leonard returned for the Clippers and scored six points last night. The clippers need him if they are going to make any noise in the NBA this season, so it’s good to see him back.
The NBA season is a month long already and the Golden State Warriors still haven’t won a road game. They are 0-8 away from the Bay Area this year. Not a good start for the defending champs.
The Packers lost to the Titans last night, effectively ending any chance to make the playoffs in our opinion. Quite a fall for Aaron Rodgers.
Not all good news for Tennessee, as their offensive coordinator got arrested for a DUI last night. Take a cab people!
The Buffalo Bills home game against Cleveland was moved to Detroit because of weather. We love snowy football games, but apparently it was too much.
The marquee games in College Football this weekend are out west. The only two games featuring ranked teams are Pac-12 battles, with UCLA-USC, and Oregon-Utah on the docket.
Ten Daily Musings for 11/13/2022:
With Washington beating Oregon and Arizona beating UCLA, the Pac-12 will probably be shut out of the College Football Playoff. Again.
We were right with our easiest pick of the day yesterday. We don’t know why Texas was favored at all, let alone by a touchdown. TCU shut them down in a 17-10 win.
Congratulations to the Vanderbilt Commodores for ending a 26 game conference losing streak yesterday. Not only did they finally win a conference game, but it was against a ranked Kentucky team.
Another congrats to the UCONN Huskies for becoming bowl eligible yesterday. It was a long time coning for one of the worst college football programs of the last decade, but Jim Mora Jr. has them going in the right direction.
Josh Allen is active and expected to play today for the Bills. That is huge deal for Buffalo.
Odell Beckham Jr. is hoping to sign with a team soon. He tore his ACL during the Super Bowl last year and hasn’t played since.
As we are writing this we are watching the Seattle Tampa Bay game. It is not going well for the Seahawks.
The Charlotte Hornets finally got LaMelo Ball back yesterday. They need him if they are going to make the playoffs, so it is a welcome sight for him to be back.
In not so god news, Detroit youngster Cade Cunningham will miss the next week with an injury. He is one of the most exciting young players in the league and his absence will be felt.
Utah just keeps winning. It is the strangest thing in the NBA thus far. Everyone (including us) expected them to be awful this year, but here we are a month into the season and they are in first place in their division.
Ten Daily Musings for 11/12/2022:
Gonzaga battled back for a one point win yesterday in the game on the aircraft carrier. We watched the first half of that game and Michigan State was manhandling Gonzaga inside. Drew Timme took over in the second half and got it done for the Bulldogs.
Michigan State is a team that is going to make some noise in the Big Ten this year. This team is physical and has good guards. They will be right there for the conference title at the end of the season.
Villanova is the first ranked team to go down, losing to Temple 68-64. Not a great start for the Wildcats, who lost coach Jay Wright to retirement last year.
Another reliever has resigned with his former team. Rafael Montero re-upped with the Astros for three more years. We want to see some position players sign soon!
Julio Rodriguez won a silver slugger award in his rookie season. The top three offensive outfielders in the American League this year were Rodriguez, Aaron Judge, and Mike Trout. That is some good company he is in!
Texas is a 7 point favorite against undefeated TCU. We don’t understand why at all. This is the easiest pick of the day for us.
Travis Dye got injured yesterday and missed the rest of the season. That is a big loss for a Trojans team that is still trying to make the College Football playoff.
Alabama, Clemson and Oklahoma will not be in the College Football Playoff this year. It will be some new blood this year, which we are looking forward too.
Steph Curry scored 40 points to win the game for the Warriors last night. This team still isn’t clicking right now and they need to get it turned around.
Kawhi Leonard worked out for the Clippers yesterday and looked good doing it. He needs to return for Los Angeles to have any chance this season.
Ten Daily Musings for 11/11/2022:
The Astros and their General Manager are going their separate ways after not being able to come to a multi year agreement. That is a surprise to us, but they will be just fine no matter who they hire.
Clayton Kershaw will be back with the Dodgers for one more year. The two sides are running it back one more time.
As if things aren’t bad enough for the Lakers, now LeBron James is on the injury report with an adductor strain. The only thing that will heal that is time, and LeBron is running out of that.
Kyrie Irving has said he isn’t anti-Semitic and Adam Silver agrees with him. We do not.
Josh Allen is still on the injury report and it will be a surprise to us if he plays on Sunday. The door is open for the Chiefs to take hold of the #1 seed.
Blake Martinez led the Raiders with 11 tackles on Sunday. He retired on Thursday.
Daniel Snyder is in trouble yet again. The Washington DC Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against him and the NFL. The sooner he goes away the better.
Gonzaga and Michigan State are playing today on an aircraft carrier. They are talking the play anyone, anytime, anywhere phrase a little too seriously. It will be cool to watch though.
We are going to predict that game and one other today in College Basketball. The season has officially started for us!
We have been taking it on the chin this week in terms of our NBA predictions but we have a lot of season left. Hope you are enjoying the ride so far!
Ten Daily Musings for 11/9/2022:
Like the NBA we took yesterday off to keep an eye on the Mid-Term elections. Won’t get into any political affiliations, but it was nice to have a day off.
The new college football playoff rankings came out yesterday. It was pretty easy for the committee as their are four undefeated teams.
Tennessee being ahead of Oregon makes sense. They both lost to Georgia, and Oregon’s loss was way worse.
LSU being ranked ahead of USC did surprise us. Yes LSU beat Alabama, but they also got waxed by Tennessee and lost to Florida State. USC still has a chance to move up with some tough games ahead.
Jeff Saturday was hired to replace Frank Reich as coach of the Colts. That was an um….. interesting choice by Indianapolis.
Josh Allen has an injured UCL and might not play this weekend. He is the MVP front runner and if he misses any time it will open up the door for some other guys.
Jacquie Vaughn is the new permanent head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. We were under the assumption that Ime Udoka would take over, but the Nets made the right decision on removing the interim tag from Vaughn.
Looks like Damian Lillard will be back for the Blazers tonight. They did fine with him injured, but he brings an extra jolt to a team that is already surpassing expectations.
Georgetown won a college basketball game for the first time in 328 days. They had lost 21 straight games until an overtime win over Coppin State yesterday.
Dusty Baker announced he isn’t retiring and will be back with the Astros in 2023. We still don’t think he has that good of a manager but he got the job done this year.
Ten Daily Musings for 11/7/2022:
The first big domino in MLB free agency fell as Edwin Diaz resigned with the Mets. His five year deal at 105 million dollars is the richest ever for a relief pitcher.
This year’s free agent pool is amazing. Jacob DeGrom, Aaron Judge, Carlos Correa, Trea Turner, Dansby Swanson are just a few of the names that are out there. It will be a fun offseason.
Frank Reich has been fired as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. We can’t say we are surprised as the Colts have underachieved all year. Maybe the next coach will reinsert Matt Ryan as quarterback because he gives them the only chance to win.
Congrats to Tom Brady on passing the 100,000 passing yard mark for his career. That is over 60 miles worth of passing yards!
The Jets made a big statement in beating the Bills yesterday. We didn’t think they had much of a shot, but their defense played great and Zach Wilson did just enough to win.
We were high on the Las Vegas Raiders coming into this season. After a loss to Jacksonville dropped the Raiders to 2-6, its safe to say that we were wrong.
Geno Smith will do something that Russell Wilson never could in Seattle. Pick up an MVP vote.
College Basketball starts today! No real good games today but it’s good to have it back.
We will be picking College Basketball, but not today. Every ranked team is favored by double digits. We are excited for the season to start.
We are just two weeks away from the World Cup. While we won’t be picking soccer matches, we are excited to watch it!
Ten Daily Musings for 11/6/2022:
The Astros beat the Phillies 4-1 to win the World Series. It as the Astros fourth trip to the World Series since 2017 and their second win. We hate the Astros but they are a good team.
Dusty Baker has been in the playoffs with five different teams, been to the World Series four times, and finally got his first win. We never thought it would happen for him, but he got it done.
We are so excited for the offseason and can’t wait for free agency. It is going to be very interesting to see who signs where.
LSU beat Alabama in overtime yesterday, effectively ending the Crimson Tides chances at the playoff. Brian Kelly going for two and for the win was a gutsy call, and it paid off.
Georgia looked like the best team in the country in shutting down Tennessee. The Volunteers came in with a lot of momentum, but it was shut down by that Georgia defense.
Clemson was another team that was in the top four of the initial College Football playoff rankings, and they got blasted by an unranked Notre Dame. We did not see that coming.
Houston and SMU played one of the wildest games in College Football yesterday. The Mustangs beat the Cougars 77-62. Their were 16 touchdown passes thrown in that game.
The Green Bay Packers tried to trade for a wide receiver before last weeks deadline, but were unable to get a deal done for either Chase Claypool or Darren Waller. That will be their undoing this year.
Speaking of teams trying to trade for players, the Los Angeles Rams tried to get both Brian Burns or Christian McCaffery from the Panthers. They have no draft capital the last few years, so that was the big reason they didn’t get anything.
Kevin Durant is interested in being part of the new ownership for the Washington Commanders. He is from the area and would be a much better owner than Daniel Snyder.
Ten Daily Musings for 11/4/2022:
We know we have been talking about the Brooklyn Nets a lot lately, but after the start to their season how could we not? The latest plot twist is that Kyrie Irving has now been suspended for at least the next five games. The wheels have completely fallen off that bus.
The Golden State Warriors are in trouble. They lost to the lowly Orlando Magic yesterday, and are still winless on the road. Steve Kerr is talking about changing the rotation to see if it helps, but the fact is they need to play better away from Oracle Arena.
The World Series flipped back in the Astros favor, with a 3-2 win yesterday. Houston now has a 3-2 series lead as the series heads back to Houston.
Justin Verlander finally head a good World Series start. It has been his kryptonite throughout his career, but he shut the door on the powerful Phillies offense yesterday. Believe it or not yesterday was his first World Series win of his storied career.
We think the Phillies will get it done tomorrow and force a game seven. This has been a closer series than most experts anticipated.
The Eagles beat the Texans last night to get to 8-0 this season. They have an easy schedule the rest of the way and have a stranglehold on the #1 seed in the NFC.
Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is going on injured reserve, needing surgery on an injured toe. He was the best receiver in football a few years ago, but has done nothing the last three. It is a shame, because he was so talented.
Yesterday we brought up that Gonzaga was in talks to join the Big 12 in basketball. Bob Huggins said that the Bulldogs would face an “awakening” if they joined the conference. Someone should tell Huggins that he is 0-5 against Gonzaga in his storied career. That “awakening” won’t be happening against his Mountaineers.
Wooden award winner Oscar Tshiebwe isn’t going to play in the opener for the Kentucky Wildcats. They are playing Howard, so they shouldn’t need him in that game. However they play Michigan State, Gonzaga, Michigan, and UCLA in the non-conference this season. They will need him in those games.
Bill Self is suspended for the first four games of the season for a Kansas team that is bringing in a lot of new players. He will miss three games against patsies, but also the game against Duke in the Champions Classic.
Ten Daily Musings for 11/3/2022:
The Astros evened up the World Series at two games apiece behind a masterful performance by Christian Javier, beating the Phillies 5-0 yesterday
The Astros threw a no hitter against the Phillies, only the second time in World Series history that has been accomplished. The first one was the perfect game Don Larson threw for the Yankees in the 1956 World Series. This time, it was four pitchers combining for the no-no.
We now have a best of three series. These two teams have traded body blows the whole series. We still think it will go seven games.
As if the Philadelphia 76ers season wasn’t off to a rocky enough start, they will now be missing James Harden for about a month. Joel Embiid has already missed time this season, and without those two they are a below average team.
The Nets have had their own problems, and now Ben Simmons is missing two more games. That, combined with Kyrie Irving’s stupidity means it will be another long season for the Nets. How soon before Kevin Durant once again asks for a trade?
Ray Guy, the only punter in the Hall of Fame, passed away at the age of 72. The award for the best punter in college Football is named after him.
The Eagles and the Texans play tonight on Thursday Night Football. Philadelphia and Houston are matched up in the World Series, and now they are playing in the NFL tonight. What a strange world!
The Eagles are 13.5 point favorites in this game. This could be a matchup of the best team in the league against the worst team. We will not be watching this game.
College Basketball teams have started playing exhibition games, with the season starting next week. We are excited to see if this is finally the year the Gonzaga Bulldogs cut down the nets.
Speaking of Gonzaga, reports are out that they are in talks to join the Big-12 in a basketball only capacity. They would be very enticing to see!
Ten Daily Musings for 11/2/2022:
The World Series tipped in the Phillies favor behind five home runs off of Lance McCullers. That was as dominant an offense as I have seen in awhile.
John Smoltz said that McCullers was tipping pitches. I think that his biggest problem is he doesn’t throw his fastball to lefties. Three of the five home runs hit were by left handed hitters.
The Phillies have a 2-1 series lead and their best two pitchers throwing at home in the next two games. They could end the series in five.
We said on Sunday Steve Nash would be the first coach fired. He was fired on Tuesday.
Now that Nets are bringing in the coach from the Celtics who was suspended for impropriety. What could go wrong there?
The first CFP rankings came out yesterday and the top four teams are Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia and Clemson. Michigan is fifth, so we were close yesterday.
TCI did not get any favors, coming in at #7. That is behind the other five undefeated teams and one loss Alabama. That will be a tough hill to climb.
Shout out to the Pac 12 for having 4 teams ranked in the top-14 of the polls. Oregon, USC, UCLA, and Utah all made it. This is the best showing for the Pac 12 in awhile.
Some big names moved at the NFL trade deadline yesterday. TJ Hockenson, Chase Claypool, and Bradley Chubb were probably the biggest names, moving to the Vikings, Bears, and Dolphins respectively.
Denver trading Bradley Chubb is a sign they don’t think they will make the playoffs. Without a first round pick after the Russell Wilson trade, they needed to recoup some assets, and did so by getting a first round pick back for Chubb.
Ten Daily Musings for 11/1/2022:
The rainout in the World Series helped the Phillies more than the Astros. Now they can throw Aaron Nola on regular rest in game four instead of having a bullpen day. That could be a huge factor in who wins this series.
You are hearing it here first. This series is going seven games.
The NFL trade deadline is today. Some big names have already switched teams (Christian Mccaffery, Roquan Smith, Robert Quinn) but don’t be surprised if a few more go today.
The Bengals did not look good yesterday. They missed Ja’Marr Chase more than we anticipated.
The Colts fired their offensive coordinator today. They needed a scapegoat, but he wasn’t the biggest reason why the offense is struggling. The biggest reason is they don’t have a quarterback.
The Clippers beat the Rockets yesterday behind a vintage performance from Paul George. With Kawhi Leonard not making their upcoming road trip, they will need a lot more from George.
James Harden didn’t have a breakout scoring game like we anticipated, but he did have 17 assists in leading the 76ers to the win.
The Raptors completely outclassed the Hawks last night. They won every quarter and dominated from start to finish.
The first College Football playoff rankings come out today. We think that it will be Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State (Not in that order)
Keep an eye on TCU they are undefeated but will probably be behind Alabama and will need some help to make the playoff, even if they do win out.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/31/2022:
This isn’t necessarily a “must win” game for the Phillies, but it’s pretty close. They have a significant pitching disadvantage in game four and can’t fall down 3-1 against this Astros team.
Who has having a better postseason, Bryce Harper or Yordan Alvarez? It is an interesting debate for sure.
Congrats to Justin Turner on winning the Roberto Clemente award. It is a tremendous honor to win that award, and it was well deserved for Turner.
Auburn fired head coach Bryan Harsin today. In less than two years on the plains, he had more controversies than wins. It had to be done.
The wheels have fallen off for the Michigan State Spartans. First they lose a rivalry game by 22 points, then four players get suspended for an altercation after the game. They are now 3-5 on the season and can’t wait for the season to be over.
We have a big trade in the NFL! Roquan Smith got traded from the Bears to the Ravens. It is the second big trade in as many weeks for the Bears, as they traded Robert Quinn to the Eagles.
The Seahawks are still surprising people. Russell Wison never got an MVP vote in Seattle. It would be hilarious if Geno Smith does in the first year after Wilson leaves.
The Warriors picked up the options on Moses Moody, James Wiseman, and Jonathan Kuminga. They had to do it. This trio will be a force in the NBA in five years.
The Lakers finally won a game! It took awhile as they were the last winless team in the NBA, but they finally got it done yesterday.
The Philadelphia have lost second round picks in the next two drafts for tampering. We are surprised this doesn’t happen more, but it looks like the NBA is finally cracking down on this.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/30/2022:
The World Series now heads to Philadelphia tied at 1-1. This is what the Phillies were hoping would happen. Now they need to win them both at home.
Once again the Phillies got off to a sluggish start. This time they couldn’t get back into it. They need to start faster at home these next two games.
A lot of College Football games were close to the spread. Oregon-Cal, Georgia-Florida, and Michigan-Michigan State were all one point off. Somehow we got all three right.
It was a wonky day yesterday in College Football. the #9 team lost 48-0 and the back half of the polls saw a lot of upsets. Should be interesting when the rankings come out today.
Ohio State had us nervous for a minute, but it was their defense that came up back. Two defensive touchdowns helped them cover the spread.
The Brooklyn Nets are already imploding. We think that Steve Nash will be the first coach fired
The load management for Kawhi Leonard is going to be frustrating all season long. They want him ready for the playoffs and he like his load management before he tore his ACL, but this is going to be on another level.
Now that Russell Westbrook is coming off the bench for the Lakers….. Well we don’t think anything will change from that.
The trade deadline for the NFL is this week. That doesn’t mean as much as the other sports, but we still should have some activity.
Jacksonville is playing a game in London today. You have to feel for England football fans, who get excited about games their every year, and one always features the lowly Jaguars.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/29/2022:
If the Phillies had any chance to win the World Series they had to win game one. They got it done despite being down 5-0 early in the game, with a JT Realmuto homerun in the tenth inning.
The Astros have an NL East problem. They lost the World Series to the Nationals in 2019 and the Braves in 2021. Now they are down 1-0 to the Phillies.
Aaron Nola will be looking to make it 2-0 today for the Phillies. We think he will get it done and the Astros will be left searching for answers.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba is out again for Ohio State against Penn State. After his record Rose Bowl performance last year everyone thought he would be the best receiver in College Football. He hasn’t been able to stay healthy this year and that’s a shame.
It isn’t the best day for College Football with only three games featuring ranked teams, but usually that is when things get wild. We think today will have some upsets that no one would have thought.
One of the games featuring two ranked teams is Kansas State and Oklahoma State. The Wildcats starting quarterback is a game time decision, and even if he does play he won’t be 100%. We picked Oklahoma State in our picks column, and we are even more confident about that pick now.
RIP to former Georgia Bulldog coach Vince Dooley. Dooley led the Bulldogs to the 1980 National Championship behind a running back named Herschel Walker. He will be missed.
The Lakers lost again. They are now 0-5 and Russell Westbrook is coming off the bench. We don’t see things getting better in Los Angles anytime soon.
Joel Embiid is injured again. He hurt his knee last night. We love watching him play and wish he could stay healthy. He is such a unique talent.
We knew that it was only a matter of time before Kyrie Irving did something stupid. Irving promoted and anti-Semitic film on his social media accounts. The man just can’t stay out of his own way, and he will be the reason the Nets don’t win a title.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/28/2022:
Tom Brady and Gisele are officially filing for divorce and the Buccaneers are 3-5. You think Brady would have rather stayed retired? We do.
Russell Wilson is going to start for the Broncos against the Jaguars in London. The trade already looks like a landslide for the Seahawks, so he needs to start playing better now.
Baker Mayfield is saying all the right things now that he is the backup quarterback. He won’t be saying them for long, it just isn’t in his nature.
Good day for us yesterday in the NBA, going 3-1 in picking games. Luka’s triple double was one of the big reasons why.
The easiest pick yesterday was the Grizzlies over the Kings. The Kings aren’t playing well right now, and we will continue to take advantage of that.
Zion Williamson is questionable to play in his game tonight. How many times has that line been written in his NBA career?
Utah and Washington State played an old school defensive game yesterday. The Utes won 21-17, but the Cougars had plenty of chances.
Not a lot of good games in College Football on Saturday. Only three games involving ranked teams play each other, and one of those three games involves Kentucky.
It feels like we haven’t had baseball for two weeks. The World Series finally starts tonight!
Justin Verlander joins Roger Clemens as the only starting pitcher to pitch in a World Series in three different decades. We love random stats like that.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/27/2022:
LeBron James is 0-4 for the first time since his rookie season in 2003. This Laker roster was constructed so horribly, and everyone knew it except for them.
Brooklyn is killing us. You never know what team you are going to get. They played inspired basketball in the first half, but in the second they just fell apart. Very frustrating.
Wishing a speedy recovery to Damian Lillard. He strained his calf yesterday, in the first loss for the Blazers. He is so fun to watch and they need him back asap!
Baltimore vs Tampa Bay tonight in prime time. After the last few Thursday nights game, this looks like a dream matchup. Thursday football is horrible to watch because the players don’t have enough time to recuperate from Sunday. that is why you see a lot of injuries on Thursday as well.
The Philadelphia Eagles continue to make brilliant moves. The latest one saw the Eagles send a fourth round pick to the Bears for Robert Quinn. They are playing chess while the other NFC contenders are playing checkers.
Russel Wilson is such a phony. Talking about how he spent four hours of the eight hour trip to London exercising. If I was on his team and he was doing high knees while I was trying to sleep on the long flight, I would lose my shit.
Mac Jones is the starter for the Patriots on Sunday. I don’t think he finishes the game.
The Pac 12 commissioner stated that the fans of UCLA and USC are not in favor of the move to the Big Ten. He has to say that of course, but when the money starts rolling in, the fans won’t mind.
What a fall for Texas A&M. They started the season in the top ten, but have lost three games and now have three players suspended for the rest of the season. You have to wonder if Aggie fans want Jimbo Fisher gone.
For the first time since 1950, no African-Americans will be playing in the World Series. This is a shame, and baseball needs to do a better job at the youth level. They are trying some things, but it obviously isn’t enough.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/26/2022:
Russell Wilson says he is ready to go when the Denver Broncos play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday. That is great news for Broncos fans, except Wilson has been terrible this year.
Tom Brady is playing on Thursday. We are going to be very interested to hear what he is doing this weekend. You could say anything and we would probably believe it.
the best game Sunday is the New York Giants at the Seattle Seahawks. Raise your hand if you thought that was going to be the case before the start of the season.
The Phillies are starting Aaron Nola in game one of the World Series and Zach Wheeler in game two. We are rooting hard for the Phillies to beat the Astros.
Not so bold prediction. The Astros will actually lose a game in this series, the first one they have lost in the playoffs.
Klay Thompson got ejected for the first time in his career yesterday. The beef with Devin Booker is going to fun to watch this season.
The Los Angeles Lakers play today. They might be the worst shooting team ever, to the surprise of absolutely no one.
This should be a fun weekend of College Football, starting on Thursday when Utah heads to Pullman to play Washington State. The Cougars have played the Utes tough at home over the last decade, so it should be a good one.
Penn State has lost their last ten games to top five teams. They welcome in #2 Ohio State this weekend, in what surely will be loss #11.
Their have been a lot of controversies in some second tier sports lately. Chess, poker and now fishing. It seems like cheating isn’t just prevalent in the major sports.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/25/2022:
The Patriots have a quarterback controversy on their hands. Neither one of them is very good, but at this point you have to go with Bailey Zappe because he is playing better.
We can’t recall ever having this much parity in the NFL. Anyone can beat anyone on a given day. Makes the games fun, but tough to predict.
Sam Ehlinger is now the starter for the Indianapolis Colts, with Matt Ryan being benched. We don’t think that will make much of a difference for this team.
Aaron Judge is going to be a fascinating story line to watch this season in baseball. He bet on himself, won big, and will get paid handsomely this year. Will it be with the Yankees? Only he knows that.
This World Series schedule makes no sense. Both teams finished out their respective series on Sunday, but the first game isn’t until Friday? We know it is because of television, but the MLB has to be more flexible.
We are rooting hard for Tennessee to keep winning for a couple of reasons. We like to see different teams in the College Football Playoff, but also because college football is just better when the Volunteers are rolling.
The SEC has been tops in college football for the last two decades, and this year is no different. The conference now has seven teams in the top 25 and three in the top six. The way they churn out talented teams is just amazing.
The Blazers just keep winning. They are now the only undefeated team left in the NBA after their victory over the Nuggets yesterday. No one saw that coming.
Ja Morant has always had the athleticism, but now he has shown he is learning the game as well. His baiting of Ben Simmons was a thing of beauty.
Jim Nantz announced he will be calling his last NCAA Championship basketball game this upcoming year. We aren’t the biggest Nantz fans, but we wish him nothing but the best as he calls it a career. Ian Eagle will take over for him, and we couldn’t be more excited for that.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/24/2022:
The Phillies and Astros are in the World Series! Philadelphia fired their manager in the middle of the season and is the National League champion. That is impressive.
The Yankees are back to the drawing board after being swept. They are clearly not in the same universe as the Astros as far as talent.
Zion Williamson was injured yesterday. We knew we would write that sentence at some point this year. Didn’t think it would be this soon.
It is time for the Lakers to pull the plug on Russell Westbrook. He is the main reason they are 0-3 in my opinion.
Surprising 3-0 NBA teams. Utah and Portland.
Surprising 0-3 NBA teams. Philadelphia and the aforementioned Lakers.
Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady lost to quarterbacks that were playing in the XFL a couple years ago. not a good look.
Geno Smith is for real. That is it.
The Jets and Giants on again! Jets are now 5-2 and Giants are 6-1. No one saw that coming.
Who is the worst team in the NFL? For us it comes down to the Lions and the Texans. We think that it is Houston.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/23/2022:
The Yankees did not get 7 innings from Gerrit Cole. They lost the game 5-0 and the Astros are going to go to the World Series.
Juan Soto and Manny Machado both hit home runs, but the pitching for the Padres has been horrendous in this series. The Phillies will be playing the Astros.
College Football had three more undefeated teams go down yesterday. Syracuse, UCLA, and Ole Miss are now gone from the ranks of the unbeatens.
Oregon going with the surprise onside kick in their game against UCLA was a stroke of genius. More teams need to try and steal possessions like that.
TCU does this every few years. They come out of nowhere and have a great season and enter the top ten. They will be heading to the Big 12 Championship game in December.
Paul George is the Alpha Dog for the Clippers right now. That might change once Kawhi is in full swing, but the Clippers are currently George’s team.
The Denver Broncos are a mess. Russell Wilson isn’t playing today, and they are starting Brett Rypien at quarterback. Far cry from a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
We can’t believe how good the state of New York is playing football. The Jets, Giants and Bills all look playoff teams. No one saw that coming.
Tua playing for the Dolphins tonight. We will be watching closely to see if he has all of his marbles with him.
Most fun team in the NFL? That might just be the Seattle Seahawks. They score a lot of points, can’t stop anyone, and always have some weirdness in their games. They are turning into must watch football.
Ten Daily Musings for 10/22/2022:
The Yankees need at least 7 innings from Gerrit Cole today if they have any chance. We don’t think it will happen and the Astros will win tonight.
Another thing that might help the Yankees? Put the bat on the ball. Thirty strikeouts in two games is not going get it done.
The Padres need to get Soto and Machado going. Juan Soto is one of our favorite players in the league, but he hasn’t had a good year. He has to turn it around for the Padres to win.
Good for Bruce Bochy coming back to manage the Rangers. He is a good manager and Texas will be better off for it.
We could be seeing previews of both the Pac 12 and Big 12 Championship games today. We think that is the case in the Pac 12 with UCLA-Oregon. Not in the Big 12 with Kansas St-TCU.
No one expected the Pac 12 to have five ranked teams this late in the season. Yes, two of them are leaving after next year, but for this year its impressive.
Even though we don’t think they will get it done today, shout out to Syracuse for starting 6-0. The face the toughest bully on the block now, but it was a nice run.
Is there a more fun NBA player than Ja Morant? He dropped 49 yesterday and is a must watch every time he has the ball.
Ben Simmons played 32 minutes yesterday and had 6 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. He was then applauded by his coach. I don’t think there has been a more coddled player in NBA History.
I must be crazy for golfing in Seattle in October but that is where we are. At least the rain is supposed to hold off.
