With a 9-6 record yesterday, we are now over .500 in April. Not exactly where we want to be but a big improvement over last week. Another full slate of games today, so let’s get to it!

Atlanta at Toronto:

Spencer Strider is making his first start in almost a year for the Braves, who are looking to get things turned around. A big performance from Strider will be a good start, and we think it will happen. Pick: Atlanta

Loss

Detroit at Milwaukee:

Detroit and Milwaukee face off in the rubber game of their three game series, and we have to give the pitching advantage to the Brewers. Jose Quintana looked awesome in his first start of the season, firing seven shutout innings. Quintana has been a quality starter for many years, so this isn’t a surprise to us. Give us the Brewers to get the series win. Pick: Milwaukee

Win

New York Mets at Minnesota:

This matchup is going to feature a lot of runs. We don’t trust either starting pitcher and we think both offenses will take advantage. We like the Mets offense better, which is why we are picking them to win the game. Pick: New York Mets

Loss

Houston at St. Louis:

Ronel Blanco ha snot gotten off to the start that we expected, and the biggest issue for him has been his control He has walked seven batters in eleven innings, which is just awful. The Cardinals are middle of the pack in walks, so today it’s not as big of an issue. We think his control will improve and the Astros will get the win. Pick: Houston

Loss

Chicago Cubs at San Diego:

Now that San Diego has lost a home game, we can finally take a hard look at the game and make an informed decision. Our decision is… That Nick Pivetta and the Padres will win this game and win the series. Pick: San Diego

Win

Cleveland at Baltimore:

Dean Kremer has not been good for the Orioles this season. He has given up 21 hits and 14 runs in his three starts. He has been an effective, if underwhelming, pitcher for the past three seasons for Baltimore, but it looks like he has taken a downturn. With that we are going with the Guardians to get the win. Pick: Cleveland

Loss

Arizona at Miami:

Max Meyer has been really good for the Marlins this year. His hot start has led Miami to a surprising 8-8 record. He has faced the Mets and the Braves, two teams that are expected to have dent offenses. We like Meyer to continue pitching well and lead the fish to victory. Pick: Miami

Loss

Seattle at Cincinnati:

If the Reds could have gotten Dylan Moore out yesterday the result would have been even more laughable. Moore hit two home runs and drove in all four runs for the Mariners, who still lost 8-4. Nick Martinez has not been good for the Reds this year, so we like the Mariners to get the win. Pick: Seattle

Win

Washington at Pittsburgh:

This game does not move the needle for us at all. You have two pitchers going against each other that wouldn’t be starters on most of the teams in the league. Because we have to pick someone, we are going with the home team. Pick: Pittsburgh

Win

San Francisco at Philadelphia:

This game features a really good pitching matchup between Robbie Ray and Aaron Nola. Ray has been very good so far this year, with three wins already. Meanwhile, we all know what Nola can do. Because this is essentially a wash we look at the lineups, which is a big advantage for the Phillies. Pick: Philadelphia

Loss

Boston at Tampa Bay:

These two teams have combined for 28 runs in the first two games of the series. Neither team has a starting pitcher doing much so expect a lot more runs in this one. We like the Rays to win a slugfest. Pick: Tampa Bay

Loss

Kansas City at New York Yankees:

The Yankees beat the Royals again, behind a strong pitching performance from Max Fried. New York still has Kansas City’s number so we are going with the Yankees again. Pick: New York Yankees

Win

Athletics at Chicago White Sox:

We just can’t in good conscious pick the White Sox against anyone. Even the Athletics. Oakland gets the win. Pick: Athletics

Win

Los Angeles Angels at Texas:

No wonder why the Rangers won yesterday. Patrick Corbin is throwing today! Take what we said about yesterday’s game and apply it today. In fact, we are locking this in. Pick: Los Angeles Angels (Lock)

Loss (Lock Record 9-12)

Colorado at Los Angeles Dodgers:

For the third straight day, don’t overthink this. The Dodgers get the sweep. Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers

Win

Happy picking everyone!
