Ladies and Gentlemen, Sports Predictions has returned! It is now baseball season so we have a full slate of games today. Without any further ado, let’s get to the picking. Now as a reminder, for baseball we are not picking against a spread. We are picking what team we think will win the game.

April 1st Picks:

Atlanta at Chicago White Sox: The White Sox have stumbled out of the blocks this year, getting swept by the Tigers in their first three games of the season. Now they hand the ball to Chris Flexen to stop the bleeding. Unfortunately, they are going against one of the best teams in baseball. Give us the Braves to get the win here. Pick: Atlanta

Colorado at Chicago Cubs: The Rockies gave up 14 runs in one inning on opening day. Things haven’t improved much since then. The Cubs lost their opening series of the year, but we like a bounce back here. Pick: Chicago Cubs

Pittsburgh at Washington: The Pirates are 4-0 after sweeping the Marlins in their opening series. Now they face a Washington team that is expected to be one of the worst in baseball this season. The Pirates aren’t going to go 162-0. They will win today. Pick: Pittsburgh

Kansas City at Baltimore: Baltimore is a trendy World Series pick after winning the division last year and getting former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes in the off season. Michael Wacha starts the game for the Royals after signing a big free agent deal. His first start won’t be pretty. Give us Baltimore to win comfortably. Pick: Baltimore

Los Angeles Angels at Miami: Both of these teams are bad. The Marlins have started the year getting swept by the Pirates. The Angels started by losing 2 of 3 to the Orioles. both offenses struggle to score runs, so we are going with the better starting pitching here. That belongs to Miami and Max Meyer. Pick: Miami

Cincinnati at Philadelphia: Big things were expected out of Philadelphia this year. Yes it is early, but the returns so far have not been promising. they were outscored 25-12 in their first three games. The pitching needs to get back on track and we think it will start today. Give us the Phillies to win. Pick: Philadelphia

Texas at Tampa Bay: The defending World Series champs head to Tampa Bay to face one of the teams they knocked out of the playoffs last year. Tampa Bay started hot last year, winning their first 13 games. This year they have started 2-2 and are already facing a litany of injuries. Give us Texas to win today. Pick: Texas

Detroit at New York Mets: Detroit was an under the radar pick to win the American League Central this year. They have proved those believers right so far, jumping out to a 3-0 record. They have done it behind the strength of their pitching, as they only scored 11 runs in those three wins. The Mets, well look like the Mets in being swept by the Brewers over the weekend. Give us the Mets to get their first win of the season today. Pick: New York Mets

Toronto at Houston: Another team that has stumbled out of the blocks, the Astros got swept at home in a four game series to the Yankees over the weekend. Houston is too good of a team to struggle this bad. Their offense will turn it around today as they get their first win of the season. Pick: Houston

Boston at Oakland: The Athletics are so bad. They will still win around 50 games this year, but that is about it. They are loving looking at the standings right now as they are not in last place. That won’t last long. Red Sox win today. Pick: Boston

Cleveland at Seattle: The Mariners are doing what the Mariners do. Low scoring games, good pitching, and timely hitting. So far that has led them to a 2-2 record, despite only scoring ten runs in those four games. The offense in Seattle always struggles in April, but their pitching is going to keep them in games. Give us Seattle at home to win this one. Pick: Seattle

New York Yankees at Arizona: The Yankees have started off the season strong, sweeping the Astros in a four game series on the road. Now they face the Diamondbacks, a team that is looking to replicate last season’s success. Juan Soto is a stud and the Yankees will win a lot of games this year. Just not today. Pick: Arizona

St. Louis at San Diego: The Cardinals have allowed 23 runs in 4 games. Last year their pitching was a train wreck, and so far it doesn’t look like anything has changed. Yes, they played a good Dodgers team over the weekend, but allowing almost six runs a game is not going to bode well. Give us the Padres in this one. Pick: San Diego

San Francisco at Los Angeles Dodgers: Pick the Dodgers to win every game seems easy. Yes we will be wrong some, but we will be right a lot. This team is so deep and talented. The Giants were a good story last year, but have gotten off to a rocky start so far this year. Give us the Dodgers to win easily today. Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers.
