We had a great day yesterday, going 11-3 and bringing our overall record to 40-25. That is more like it! 13 more games today so let’s get to it! As always, if you want to see what we got right and what we got wrong go look at yesterdays picks!
New York Mets at Miami:
Today is the day when most opening day starters are making their second start of the season. Because of that, we are going to have some good pitching matchups. Including this one, with Kodai Senga and Sandy Alcantara are squaring off. In a low scoring game, we have the Marlins coming out on top. Pick: Miami
Win
Texas at Cincinnati:
Texas has Nathan Eovaldi starting his second game of the season. Cincinnati has Carson Spiers starting his first. Big advantage Rangers in that matchup. Combine that with the fact that we like Texas’ lineup better, and this is an easy pick for us. In fact this is our lock of the day. Pick: Rangers - Lock
Win (Lock Record 3-3)
Arizona at New York Yankees:
Can New York’s torpedo bats keep knocking balls out of the park against Corbin Burnes? That is going to be a good matchup, but we actually give the edge to the Diamondbacks in this one. We don’t trust Will Warren for the Yankees, so we are going to with Arizona to get the win. Pick: Arizona
Win
Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay:
Yesterday we nailed this game, as the Rays knocked the Pirates all over the yard. This game is played at Steinbrenner field in Tampa Bay, which is a big advantage for the hitters. We like the Rays to get the win again today. Pick: Tampa Bay
Win
Washington at Toronto:
Jose Berrios got knocked all over the yard in his first start against the Orioles, and now he faces a lineup that doesn’t have as many impact bats. We didn’t like what we saw at all from Berrios in that game, so we are going to ride with Trevor Williams and the Washington Nationals to get the win. Pick: Washington
Loss
Kansas City at Milwaukee:
Milwaukee has to bounce back after that horrible series in the Bronx, and yesterday did nothing to help that. They got boat raced by the Royals, losing 11-1. They have been outscored 47-15 en route to 0-4 start. Today is the day they turn things around as they get their first win of the 2025 season. Pick: Milwaukee
Win
Minnesota at Chicago White Sox:
The White Sox are a surprising 2-2 to start the season, while the twins have only scored 6 runs in a 0-4 start. If it weren’t for the Brewers, you would say Minnesota had the roughest first few days of the season. This is another team that we think will get their first win of the season today. Pick: Minnesota
Win
Los Angeles Angels at St. Louis:
Mike Trout has one hit in the first four games of the season, and the Angels still sit at 3-1 and atop the American League West. They have only allowed six runs combined in their last three games, all wins. We think that will come crashing down to earth today as the Cardinals put up at least six runs and get the win. Pick: St. Louis
Loss
San Francisco at Houston:
The San Francisco Giants are throwing their ace in this one, and Logan Webb is looking to bounce back after an uncharacteristically subpar start in the opener. We think he will bounce back and lead the Giants to victory. Pick: San Francisco
Win
Cleveland at San Diego:
San Diego is another team that has yet to lose a game. We went against them yesterday and got burned. We are not making that mistake again. Pick: San Diego
Win
Detroit at Seattle:
Emerson Hancock got shellacked yesterday and the Mariners never recovered after allowing six runs in the top of the first inning. Today is a different story, as Logan Gilbert takes the bump for Seattle. Detroit is countering with former number one overall pick Casey Mize, but we like the Mariners to win a low scoring game. Pick: Seattle
Loss
Chicago Cubs at Athletics:
If the first game in Sacramento is going to tell us anything, it is that balls will be flying all over the lot when the Athletics play a home game. For a team that doesn’t have a stellar pitching staff, that is a recipe for disaster. We like the Cubs to stay hot and win comfortably again. Pick: Chicago Cubs
Win
Atlanta at Los Angeles Dodgers:
The Dodgers still haven’t lost. So we still aren’t picking against them. Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers
Win
Happy picking everyone!
