Another good day here at Sports Predictions. After going 9-5 in day one, we followed it up by going 9-4 in day two. That is a 18-9 overall record. That would win us some money in Vegas! Let’s see how we got here shall we.

April 2nd Results:

Winners

Minnesota at Milwaukee: The Brewers won this game behind their pitching, as starter Jacob Junis and four relievers held the Twins to just three hits. Milwaukee jumped to a 3-0 lead after three innings and let their pitching carry them the rest of the way.

Kansas City at Baltimore: Cole Irvin gave up four runs in five innings of work. Not terrible, but about what we expected from the weak link in the Orioles rotation. That was enough for Kansas City, as started Alec Marsh allowed one run in seven innings.

Cincinnati at Philadelphia: Bryce Harper ladies and gentlemen! He put the Phillies on his back with three home runs and six rbi’s in the 9-4 win. The Phillies offense can explode like that, and Harper is a big reason why. When he gets hot there was no one more fun to watch in baseball.

Tampa Bay at Texas: Andrew Heaney did what Andrew Heaney does, striking out seven hitters and allowing three runs. Only one of the runs was earned as the Texas defense let him down. When you are playing a team like Tampa Bay you can’t beat yourself, and that is what the Rangers did in a 5-2 loss.

Atlanta at Chicago White Sox: This one was just a gut feeling for us. The Braves are a much better team than the White Sox, as everyone would probably agree. We just didn’t like the idea of Reynaldo Lopez going against his former team. Lopez actually pitched pretty well, but Garrett Crochet pitched better in leading the White Sox to their first win.

Colorado at Chicago Cubs: After yesterday’s game Kyle Freeland’s ERA went down from 38.57 to 27.00. That is with him giving up 7 runs in less than 4 innings of work. It is going to be a long year in Colorado.

Toronto at Houston: Another pitchers dual, this game wasn’t decided until a two run home run by Toronto’s Davis Schneider in the top of the ninth inning. He hit that home run off of Astros closer Josh Hader, which is quite the feat. That was all the runs the Blue Jays would need in the 2-1 win.

Boston at Oakland: The first extra inning game of the season to go our way, it probably shouldn’t have. Oakland had runners at first and third with one out in the bottom of the tenth of a tie game. They couldn’t get the run in and promptly lost in the next inning. That is 2024 Oakland baseball everybody!

New York Yankees at Arizona: Zac Gallen is really good. He pitched six innings of shutout ball to help hand the Yankees their first loss of 2024. Nestor Cortes wasn’t bad for the Yankees, and really settled in after allowing three runs in the first inning. That was all Gallen needed to lead the Diamondbacks to victory.

Losers:

Los Angeles Angels at Miami: Once again we hopped on the Miami train and once again we got booted off. The loss yesterday drops the Marlins to 0-6, with all six losses at home. Maybe we will pick them again today and maybe we won’t be disappointed.

Cleveland at Seattle: One pitcher lived up to the hype of this pitcher’s duel. One did not. The one that did was Justin Bieber of the Cleveland Guardians. That is two straight sub-par starts for Luis Castillo. His nickname is “The Rock”, so he need to get this turned around before he turns into a pebble.

St. Louis at San Diego: Yu Darvish pitched well. Miles Mikolas pitched a little bit better. Combine that with the Padres bullpen giving up a couple of runs and you have a 5-2 victory for the Cardinals. St. Louis one this game despite going 0-6 with runners in scoring position, not a good sign for the future for the Cardinals.

San Francisco at Los Angeles Dodgers: We picked against the Dodgers and it bit us in the ass. Mookie Betts has scored 14 runs already this season. That is more than a few teams! This team is winning with offense, and that is despite a slow start for Shohei Ohtani. National League teams should be terrified.
