After a rough weekend we had a winning record yesterday, going 6-5. That is not great, but at least we won more than we lost. A full slate of games today so let’s get to picking!

New York Yankees at Detroit:

Tarik Skubal has not pitched to his high bar he set last year. He hasn’t been bad, but he hasn’t been otherworldly either. We think that it will only be a matter of time before he becomes the lights out pitcher who won the triple crown last year. Will it be today against the Yankees? We think so. Pick: Detroit

Win

Chicago White Sox at Cleveland:

The White Sox are coming back to earth after their 2-2 start, losing 5 games in a row. Shane Smith is going to try and stop the skid against the Guardians. I don’t trust Shane Smith at all and I don’t trust the White Sox either, so we are going to with the losing streak continue. Pick: Cleveland

Win

Miami at New York Mets:

Yesterday wasn’t the run scoring barrage that we thought it was going to be, but the Mets did get the win. Miami’s offense has only scored 33 runs in ten games, and now they are facing Clay Holmes, who has pitched well this year. The Marlins’ bats will continue to be cold and the Mets will win again. Pick: New York Mets

Win

St. Louis at Pittsburgh:

Paul Skenes day! We have picked him both times this year, and he has been underwhelming, but he has such electric stuff, we are going to ride with him again. Pick: Pittsburgh

Loss

Los Angeles Dodgers at Washington:

The Dodgers have lost three out of four since their 7-0 start, and are staring Justin Wrobleski in this one. If you know who that is, good on you, because we don’t. He started six games last year, but didn’t pitch well, and now he is trying to get them back on track. Washington is countering with Brad Lord, and we don’t know who that is either. What we do know is that the Dodgers offense is better than Washington’s. Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers

Loss

Toronto at Boston:

Garrett Crochet is pitching for the Red Sox today. He has been money his first two starts, and we don’t see any reason why that won’t continue. Give us the Red Sox here. We are making this our lock of the day. Pick: Boston (Lock)

Loss (Lock Record 6-7)

Los Angeles Angels at Tampa Bay:

Shane Baz look dominant in his first start, throwing six shutout innings and striking out ten. Now he faces an Angels team that has looked okay on offense, but not great. We think Baz will get the better of the Angels today and the Rays will get the win. Pick: Tampa Bay

Loss

Philadelphia at Atlanta:

After a brief break in facing the Marlins, another good team awaits the Braves as the Phillies roll into town. Philadelphia just took two out of three from the Dodgers, who swept the Braves last week. The transitive property is useless in baseball, but it is a fun fact. The main hope for the Braves is Chris Sale is throwing today. Unfortunately the Phillies have Zack Wheeler, so they get the nod here. Pick: Philadelphia

Loss

Minnesota at Kansas City:

Two underrated pitchers are going at it today, with Pablo Lopez and the Twins facing off against Cole Ragans and the Royals. The Twins are a team that we aren’t going to watch much this year, because they just don’t have that much going for them. At least the Royals have Bobby Witt Jr. That is enough for us. Pick: Kansas City

Win

Texas at Chicago Cubs:

We were right yesterday in one of these teams was going to shut down the other team, but wrong in saying it was going to be the Rangers shutting out the Cubs. Now Texas is throwing…. PATRICK CORBIN?!??! We didn’t know he was still in the league! This is an easy pick for the Cubs here. Pick: Chicago Cubs

Win

Milwaukee at Colorado:

The Colorado Rockies pitching staff has actually been very good this year. Unfortunately their hitters can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Even though this game is played in Colorado, we still think it will be a relatively low scoring game, with the Brewers coming out on top. Pick: Milwaukee

Win

Baltimore at Arizona:

We here at Sports Predictions really like Charlie Morton. He has been a solid starting pitcher for a long time. Alas, it looks like father time is finally catching up to him. He has had two bad starts and faces a good Arizona lineup. That feels like a Diamondbacks win. Pick: Arizona

Win

Houston at Seattle:

Framber Valdez and Luis Castillo pitching in an April game in Seattle. First team to score wins. Valdez is battling an illness right now, and that will probably be the difference in this game. We know we have picked Seattle a lot, but we are going to go with them again here. Pick: Seattle

Loss

Cincinnati at San Francisco:

The Reds just like being involved in shutouts. In four of the last seven games involving the Reds, a team has scored zero runs. Yesterday it was the Giants who got shutout. We do think both teams will score at least one run in this game, and we also think that San Francisco will score more. Pick: San Francisco

Loss

San Diego at Athletics:

At least the Athletics finally put up a fight in their home park yesterday, but they still lost to move to 0-4 in Sacramento. The have to win a game at home sometime don’t they? Well, it won’t be today, not with Dylan Cease pitching for the Padres. Give us the Friars here. Pick: San Diego

Loss

Happy picking everyone!
