One game under .500 yesterday which brings our weekly record to an even 13-13. Another full slate of games today so let’s get to it!

St. Louis at Pittsburgh:

The Cardinals are really bad away from the friendly confines of St. Louis. If they played every game at Busch Stadium they would be a playoff team. Since they only play half of their games at home, another postseason miss is likely. Since this game is played in Pittsburgh we are going with the Pirates. Pick: Pittsburgh

Win

Miami at New York Mets:

Max Meyer is the hope for the Marlins as they look to avoid the sweep at the hands of the Mets. We think that he will pitch well enough and Miami will score just enough runs to win the game. Pick: Miami

Win

New York Yankees at Detroit:

The Tigers have won five games in a row, and hand the ball to Jack Flaherty looking for the sweep. The Yankees are countering with Max Fried, who all of a sudden is the ace of their rotation. This another series that we think will not be a sweep, as the Yankees will get enough runs off of Flaherty to get the win. Pick: New York Yankees

Win

Texas at Chicago Cubs:

Shota Imanaga is throwing for the Cubs in this one. That is usually a good sign for a Cubs win, as he has been absolutely dominant so far this season. He has only allowed two runs in 18 innings, and we think that will continue today. He throws another quality start and leads the Cubs to victory. Pick: Chicago Cubs

Loss

San Diego at Athletics:

We can’t pick the Athletics to lose every game they play in Sacramento right? This is a good chance for them to get the win, as the Padres are having Randy Vasquez take the hill. The Athletics will get enough offense and enough pitching to get the win in a close one. Also, I keep calling the Athletics Oakland. Oops. Pick: Athletics

Loss

Baltimore at Arizona:

We honestly have no idea who to pick in this one. These teams are similar and the pitching matchup doesn’t do much for us. Since we have to pick one, we are going to go with Baltimore, for the only reason that we picked Arizona the other two teams in this series. Pick: Baltimore

Loss

Cincinnati at San Francisco:

Justin Verlander takes the mound for the Giants against Nick Martinez and the Reds. Verlander has looked rather pedestrian in his first two starts, but he is 42 years old. Like we said with Charlie Morton yesterday, father time always comes around, and Verlander is just another example. Give us the Reds here. Pick: Cincinnati

Loss

Los Angeles Dodgers at Washington

We thought the Dodgers had this other-worldly pitching staff. This is the second game in a row they are throwing someone we have never heard of. Yesterday that didn’t matter as we picked them to win, but today is a different story. We like the Nationals to win this game and steal the series from the Dodgers. Pick: Washington

Loss

Houston at Seattle:

The other Luis Castillo is pitching for the Mariners, and last time it was not a good start. We predict more of the same today, as the Astros score early and often to get the win. We are very confident in this in fact. Pick: Houston (Lock)

Loss (Lock Record 6-8)

Chicago White Sox at Cleveland:

The White Sox lost again yesterday, but at least they didn’t get blown out in losing 1-0 to the Guardians. That is now six straight losses for Chicago, and it’s beginning to look a lot like last year. We don’t think they will get swept however, so we are going to give them this one. Pick: Chicago White Sox

Loss

Toronto at Boston:

This is a much better pitching matchup for the Blue Jays than yesterday. With Kevin Gausman going, Toronto always has a chance to win a game. Tanner Houck is throwing for the Red Sox, and while he has good stuff, he hasn’t been lighting it up yet. We are going to go with the Blue Jays today. Pick: Toronto

Win

Los Angeles Angels at Tampa Bay:

Yusei Kikuchi has done exactly what he has done his whole career. Strike out almost a better per inning, but also give up a lot of home runs. He has given up three in two starts. The Rays aren’t known for the power, but they will hit a couple out today and will get the win. Pick: Tampa Bay

Win

Philadelphia at Atlanta:

Taijuan Walker has not had good success against the Braves in his career. In nine appearances, he has an ERA over 5. Atlanta will get back on the right side of the win column by keeping that trend going. Pick: Atlanta

Loss

Minnesota at Kansas City:

We keep waiting for the Joe Ryan breakout season. Maybe it isn’t going to come and he is just an average starting pitcher. We picked Kansas City in the first two games of this series, so are confident in them to get the sweep? Yes we are, and they will do it behind a good performance from Seth Lugo and getting to Ryan early. Pick: Kansas City

Loss

Milwaukee at Colorado:

Colorado is another team that is going to lose a lot of games this year. We would have great success just picking them to lose every time, but where is the fun in that? We think the Rockies get enough offense behind Antonio Senzatela and get the win. Pick: Colorado

Loss

Happy picking everyone!
