What we got right:

College Basketball:

Nothing

NBA:

Minnesota at Charlotte - Terry Rozier scored a season high 41 points and LaMelo Ball had a double double as the Hornets got the 120-114 win over the Timberwolves. This was a close game throughout, as neither team had a lead of over eight points the entire game. In the end it was Rozier and the Hornets making the big plays down the stretch to get the win.

New York at Washington - Bradley Beal didn’t play in this one and the Wizards had no offensive rhythm in the 109-91 loss at the hands of the Knicks. Russell Westbrook tried to carry the offense, and he was a rebound short of a triple double, but he doesn’t have the same firepower as he had a few years ago. This Wizards team is bad with Beal. Without him they are downright abysmal.

New Orleans at Dallas - Make that four wins in a row for the Mavericks. Both Luca Doncic and Zion Williamson had career nights, with Doncic dropping 46 points and Williamson adding 36 in the loss. While those two went at it, Kristaps Porzinigis added 36 points and the two headed monster of Dallas was enough to get the win.

Oklahoma City at Denver - This game was close like we thought but it was the defenses that played center stage in this one. In the 97-95 win for the Nuggets Nikola Jokic had 22 points and 13 rebounds, as Denver rallied from a double digit fourth quarter deficit. Justin Jackson led the way for the Thunder with 20 points in the loss.

Milwaukee at Utah - The Jazz just keep on rolling. Utah beat Milwaukee 129-115 for their 17th win in 18 games to improve on the best record in the NBA. Rudy Gobert had 27 points and 12 rebounds for the Jazz, leading four players with 25 or more points for Utah, while Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with 29 points for the Bucks.

Cleveland at Portland - Make that three straight wins for the Blazers and six straight losses for the Cavaliers. Cleveland’s defense was once again the issue, as they allowed 129 points to a Blazers team playing their second night of back to back games. In the 129-110 win, Gary Trent Jr. led the way for Portland with 26 points.

What we got wrong:

College Basketball:

#6 Illinois at Nebraska - This game did not go as we expected. The Cornhuskers fought hard and forced overtime, but ultimately fell 77-72 to Illinois. Neither team had a double digit lead throughout the game, but in the extra period it was the Fighting Illini who made more plays to earn the win.

NBA:

San Antonio at Atlanta - The Hawks continue to scuffle, as they are now 3-7 in their last ten games. Trae Young scored 25 points for the Hawks, but was just 2-6 from the three point line. DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points to lead seven Spurs players in double figures. That is the balance that the Spurs have had in years past, and it continued in this one.

Los Angeles Clippers at Chicago - The Clippers held Zach Lavine to just 26 points, which was 19 fewer than he had the last time these two teams met. Kawhi Leonard scored 33 points in the 125-106 win, while Marcus Morris added 20 points off the bench. The win for the Clippers earned them the season sweep over the Bulls.

Detroit at Boston - Saddiq Bey hit seven three pointers, including the dagger with 39 second left to lift the Pistons to a 108-102 victory over the Celtics. The Pistons almost blew a 10 point fourth quarter lead, but Bey put the team on its back and carried them to the finish line.

Memphis at Los Angeles Lakers - The Lakers can win a game without overtime! Los Angeles won their seventh game in a row, but it was their first win in four games that didn’t involve an extra period. Anthony Davis had 35 points in the 115-105 win, while Grayson Allen led the way with 23 points for the Grizzlies.

Orlando at Sacramento - We predict a double digit win for the Kings and they lose 123-112. We shouldn’t have put our faith in the Kings, and we learned our lesson here. Nikola Vucevic scored 42 points for the Magic in the win, hitting six three pointers along the way. Defense continues to be problem for the Kings, as they have allowed Orlando to shoot 50% from the field.
