What we got right:

NBA:

Atlanta at New York - Julius Randle scored a season high 44 points and lead the New York Knicks to their third straight victory. The Knicks beat the Hawks 123-112, proving that they have more offensive firepower than we thought. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Hawks, and their seventh in their last eight games.

Brooklyn at Sacramento - Defense was optional in this game, even more so than we anticipated, with the Nets getting the 136-125 win over the Kings. Even without Kevin Durant the Nets put up 136 points. This team just needs to learn how to play an ounce of defense and they could win the NBA title.

What we got wrong:

College Basketball:

#9 Virginia at #17 Florida State - Florida State proved it belonged among the top in the ACC with the 81-60 win over Virginia in Tallahassee last night. That leaves both the Seminoles and the Cavaliers with two losses in conference play, but Virginia has played three more games than Florida State. No matter how you look at it, that was one of the more impressive wins in college basketball this season.

NBA:

Chicago at Indiana - Zach LaVine scored 12 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter to help force overtime, and the Bulls won the extra frame 15-7 to earn the 120-112 win over the Pacers. Indiana was down nine to start the fourth quarter, but an early run gave them a lead with under five minutes to play. Then LaVine carried the Bulls to finish line and helped them get the win.

Houston at Washington - John Wall scored 29 points against his former team, but it wasn’t enough as the Wizards got the 131-119 victory over the Rockets. Bradley Beal dropped 37 points as the two former teammates went head on the entire game. That is now six straight losses for the Rockets, who need Christian Wood back desperately.

Philadelphia at Utah - The Jazz just keep on rolling. We thought they would win but not cover, but the proved us wrong in the 134-123 win over the 76ers. Ben Simmons had a career high 42 points for Philadelphia, but even that wasn’t enough to get the win. Jordan Clarkson scored a season high 40 points as the Jazz won their eighth straight game.

Cleveland at Golden State - Stephen Curry scored 36 points through three quarters as the Warriors rolled the Cavaliers 129-98. This is the eighth straight loss for Cleveland, who allowed Curry to get whatever he wanted all night long. Cleveland is not a good basketball team, but does have some interesting players they could move at the trade deadline.

Miami at Los Angeles Clippers - The Clippers didn’t have Paul George or Kawhi Leonard, and still got the 125-118 win over Jimmy Butler and the Heat. Marcus Morris scored 32 points in a spot start, leading the charge for Los Angeles without its two all-stars. Butler had a 30 point triple double for Miami, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.
