February 7, 2021 Picks:

College Basketball:

#8 Iowa (-3) at Indiana - Iowa will be looking for some revenge after Indiana beat them 81-69 last month. Indiana has lost two games in a row since that game, but both games have been close. We expect another close game, but Iowa will get the win and the cover. Barely. Pick: Iowa 78 Indiana 73

#25 Drake (-13) at Valparaiso - This line is the exact same as yesterday, when these two teams played and Drake walked away with a three point win. We think Drake will get the win again, and while it will be by more than three it will also be by less than 13. Give us Valparaiso to cover. Pick: Drake 84 Valparaiso 73

Georgetown at #3 Villanova (-13.5) - Georgetown is coming off an upset win against Creighton, and finds themselves double digit underdogs yet again. We said earlier this week that the Hoyas play a lot of close games. We don’t think that will change here. We like the Wildcats to win, but not by double digits. Pick: Villanova 83 Georgetown 76

NBA:

Utah (-5) at Indiana - Everyone who reads this knows how much we love the Jazz. Utah has won 14 of their last 15 games, and we see no reason why they can’t make it 15 out of 16. Domantis Sabonis has been huge for the Pacers, but now he faces the best defensive big man in the NBA in Rudy Gobert. Gobert will neautralize Sabonis and the Jazz will get another win. Pick: Utah 123 Indiana 112

Miami (-6) at New York - We really are tempted to pick the Knicks. The Heat aren’t playing well and the Knicks play so hard. The latter is why we won’t be picking New York. They spent so much energy in their win against the Blazers on Saturday, they won’t be able to keep with Miami. Give us the Heat by double digits. Pick: Miami 112 New York 99

Washington (-1.5) at Charlotte - Once again, the Wizards are favored to win a game. Even with Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook, that makes us chuckle. We like the young core for the Hornets, including LaMelo Ball, and we think that Charlotte is going to get the win here. Pick: Charlotte 118 Washington 113

Boston at Phoenix (-3) - Marcus Smart is out, Jaylen Brown is questionable, and Kemba Walker is coming off an injury himself. That is not a good recipe for the Celtics, who now face a Phoenix team that likes to get out and run. Give us the Suns to wear the Celtics down, and pull away late. Pick: Phoenix 117 Boston 108

Sacramento at Los Angeles Clippers (-8.5) - The Kings come into this game having won three in a row. That win streak will end today. The Clippers will be angry after losing to the Celtics on Friday, and will take it out on a Kings team playing back to back nights. Give us Los Angeles by double digits. Pick: Los Angeles 124 Sacramento 110

NFL:

Super Bowl LV: Kansas City (-3) vs Tampa Bay: Now we come to the biggest pick we have made in the five weeks we have been making picks. The Super Bowl between the Chiefs and Buccaneers. These two teams met earlier this year and Tampa Bay couldn’t stop Tyreek Hill or Travis Kelce. We think something similar is goin to happen today. Kansas City is going to score a lot of points, and we think that Tom Brady and the Buccaneers will be able to keep up for awhile, but not 60 minutes. We will have a back to back Super Bowl Champion for the first time since Brady and the Patriots did it in 2004, as the Chiefs win this game by ten points. Pick: Kansas City 41 Tampa Bay 31.

Happy picking everyone!
