January 11, 2021 Picks:

College Football:

College Football National Championship Game: #1 Alabama (-9) vs #3 Ohio State - The big game is finally here. After a season unlike any other you get two College Football bluebloods squaring off for the National Championship. The biggest question to us is how healthy are the Ohio State Buckeyes? Justin Fields will probably be wearing some extra padding after they hit he took against Clemson, and the Buckeyes have spent the last week dealing with new Covid cases as well. Another question will be the status of Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Waddle injured his leg earlier this season, but he is trying to get back onto the field tonight. How effective will he be? Will he be used as a decoy? Ohio State proved to us in that game against Clemson that they shouldn’t be counted out. We predict an Alabama win, but closer than the nine points. Pick: #1 Alabama 41 #3 Ohio State 37

NBA:

New York at Charlotte (-4.5) - Charlotte has been playing its best basketball lately, winning three straight games. The Knicks have lost two in a row in ugly fashion. LaMelo Ball is starting to turn the corner as an NBA player, and it won’t be long before he is in the starting lineup for the Hornets. Pick: Charlotte 118 New York 106

Memphis at Cleveland (-2.5) - These two teams met early last week and it was a four point for the Cavaliers. Now they run it back in Cleveland. Memphis has had an extra day of rest between these two teams, and we think that will help. The Cavaliers will where down in the second half, and the Grizzlies pull out the win. Pick: Memphis 103 Cleveland 97

Milwaukee at Orlando (-9.5) - The Magic are reeling since losing Markelle Fultz. Orlando has played two games without their starting point guard and has failed to top 100 points in either game. Now they face a Bucks team that could be missing Giannis. Even if Giannis doesn’t play, Orlando is too big of a mess right now. Pick: Milwaukee 114 Orlando 96

Phoenix (-6.5) at Washington - The surprising Suns head to Washington to face a Wizards team that will have Bradley Beal in this one. Beal was a worry for the Covid list, but it sounds like he will be playing. Even with Beal playing, Phoenix is playing too well right now to lose. Beal will get his points, but won’t have enough people around him to get the win. Pick: Phoenix 119 Washington 108

Philadelphia at Atlanta (-6.5) - Atlanta is on a four game losing streak and is a 6.5 point favorite to the 76ers. Both Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are out for Philadelphia, which is why the line is the way it is. With both of those guys missing the game the Hawks will cover and end their losing streak. Pick: Atlanta 107 Philadelphia 96

New Orleans at Dallas (-3.5) - This should be a good game. Both teams are better defensively then we would have anticipated to start the season. This game is going to come down to playmakers. The Mavericks have one in Doncic. The Pelicans have two in Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. We are rolling with New Orleans here. Pick: New Orleans 111 Dallas 107

Toronto at Portland (-5) - Toronto is playing the second night of a back to back against a Blazers squad that ripped the Kings their last time out. This game will come down to guard play and the Blazers have better guards in Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. Sign us up for Portland here. Pick: Portland 117 Toronto 110

Indiana (-5.5) at Sacramento -The Kings defense has been abysmal this year. They are allowing 121 points per game so far. The Pacers have been much more stingy, only allowing 109. Sacramento is coming off of two ugly losses in a row. This will be the third. Pick: Indiana 125 Sacramento 107

Happy picking everyone!
