What we got right:

College Basketball:

Nothing

NBA:

Charlotte at Toronto - We were two points away from nailing the score perfect. We predicted a 113-108 Raptors win and the final score was 111-108 in favor of Toronto. The Raptors only scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, but it was enough to get the victory. Toronto improves to 3-8 this season, while the Raptors drop to 6-7.

Golden State at Denver - Nikola Jokic had 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists. That is the triple double that we were talking about. Steph Curry had 35 points for the Warriors in the 114-104 loss. Denver and Golden State now boast identical 6-6 records to start the season. Both are surprising. Golden State is overachieving so far this season and Denver has gotten off to a slow start, but seems to be rounding into form.

What we got wrong:

College Basketball:

Pepperdine at #1 Gonzaga - Gonzaga is a cruel team to us. They are always right on the cusp of the point spread and we have gotten it wrong every time. Vegas sure knows what they are doing with this team. When we made the pick the line was 25.5 points and we picked Gonzaga to cover. They won 95-70. That is 25 points. Picking against the spread can be cruel sometimes, and this is one of those times.

NBA:

Miami at Philadelphia - Ben Simmons was indeed back for the 76ers, and he got a triple double in the 125-108 victory over the Heat. Miami was once again without their two best players in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, and the supporting cast couldn’t get the job done. Hopefully the two all-stars rejoin the team soon.

Houston at San Antonio - Who needs James Harden? The Rockets certainly didn’t yesterday in the 109-105 victory over the Spurs. Christian Wood led the way for Houston with 27 points and 15 rebounds. We were right in that Victor Oladipo didn’t play, and they didn’t need him in this one.

Indiana at Portland - The Blazers were sluggish in this one, only scoring 36 points in the first half in the 111-87 loss to the Pacers at home. Domantas Sabonis led the way with 23 points and 15 rebounds for the Pacers, who now have Caris LeVert and Jarett Allen joining the team in their next game.
