January 15, 2021 Picks:
College Basketball:
#9 Wisconsin (-3) at Rutgers - Another day with only one college basketball game featuring a ranked team. This time we head to New Jersey for a Big Ten tilt between the Badgers and the Scarlet Knights. Wisconsin is coming off a 77-54 bludgeoning at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines. They will take out their frustrations from that last game against Rutgers, and will cover the spread quite easily. Pick: Wisconsin 85 Rutgers 74
NBA:
Orlando at Boston (-3.5) - The Celtics haven’t played in a week, having their last three games postponed due to Covid. They are still without Jayson Tatum, who is in the Covid protocol. Orlando has been beaten badly in their last three games since they lost Markelle Fultz. That won’t change today. Pick: Boston 113 Orlando 99
New York (-2.5) at Cleveland - These teams have a lot of similarities. Both of these teams come into this game having lost their last few games. For the Knicks the streak is at four, while the Cavaliers have lost three straight. Both struggle to score the basketball, with New York averaging 101 points while Cleveland averages 99. One of those will end today and we believe it will be the Knicks. Pick: New York 103 Cleveland 97
Dallas at Milwaukee (-6.5) - This is a matchup between two of the best players in the NBA. On one side you got Luca Doncic and on the other side you got Giannis. This game will come down to whoever’s supporting cast will play better, and with the return of Kristaps Porzingis we give the edge to Dallas in a close one. Pick: Dallas 124 Milwaukee 121
Memphis at Minnesota (-1.5) - These two teams played two days ago in Minnesota and the Grizzlies beat the Timberwolves 118-107. Why Las Vegas continues to favor Minnesota in games we have no idea. But we will gladly take it. Pick: Memphis 114 Minnesota 109
Chicago (-1) at Oklahoma City - This line is a little surprising to us. We know the Thunder aren’t very good, but giving a point at home to the Bulls? Chicago can’t stop anybody and Oklahoma City struggles to score, so this will be a fascinating game of contrasting styles. We are going with the Thunder get the win today. Pick: Oklahoma City 105 Chicago 101
Atlanta at Utah (-6) - These are two teams heading in opposite directions. The Hawks have lost four of five games, while the Jazz have won three straight. Give us the team playing better right now, as the Jazz take care of business against the Hawks on their home floor. Pick: Utah 117 Atlanta 107
New Orleans at Los Angeles Lakers (-9) - Now that Zion Williamson is back this game looks a lot more interesting. Lonzo Ball is listed as questionable against his former team, and they will need his playmaking abilities to stay in this game. We say that Lonzo does play and the Pelicans keep it close, but fall just short. Pick: Los Angeles Lakers 118 New Orleans 112
Los Angeles Clippers (-7) at Sacramento - The Clippers are long overdue for a game where they blow someone out. They have a perfect opportunity here against a Kings team that is much less talented than they are. The Clippers will answer some questions in this one as they take it to the Kings. Pick: Los Angeles Clippers 128 Sacramento 109
Happy picking everyone!
