We were under .500 yesterday to bring our overall record to 11-12. If you want to look and see what games we got wrong and what games we got right go look at the March 28th picks. Full slate of games today so let’s get to it!

Milwaukee at New York Yankees:

The Yankees haven’t decided who they are throwing in this one at the time of writing, but the Brewers are going to throw former Yankee Nestor Cortes. Cortes’ first start for his new team is his against his former team at his old ball park. He will be amped up in this one and we think that it will be enough for the Brewers to get the win. Pick: Milwaukee

Loss (In a big Way)

Los Angeles Angels at Chicago White Sox:

We have to pick every game, including games between teams that we think are going to be really bad. Both teams have good things for us to pick up on though, with the Angels finally having a healthy Mike Trout, and the White Sox going with a team full of promising youngsters. We went with the White Sox in the opener, so give us the Angels in this one. Pick: Los Angeles Angels

Win

Minnesota at St. Louis:

We think that the Twins have a sneaky good rotation, and it all falls in line behind Sonny Gray. Joe Ryan had a lot of hype a few years ago, and he had a solid year last year. The Cardinals don’t have a potent offense, so we like Ryan and the Twins to get the win in this one. Pick: Minnesota

Loss

Baltimore at Toronto:

Max Scherzer is 40 years old and he still looks like his old self. He had a great spring training and you know he is going to get everything he can out of his old right arm. The Orioles are countering with Dean Kremer, who is a solid but unspectacular pitcher. I know, you can say that about all of the starting pitcher for Baltimore, but Kremer is the face of that for us. Give us the Blue Jays here. Pick: Toronto

Loss

Philadelphia at Washington:

The Phillies lineup is full of all-stars, from Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, and beyond. This is a really deep lineup that is going to give pitchers fits all season. Washington is a lineup full of young talented guys, led by Dylan Crews, who we think will be the 2025 NL Rookie of the year. The difference is the Phillies are established while the Nationals are up and coming. Give us Philadelphia here. Pick: Philadelphia

Win

Colorado at Tampa Bay:

Colorado has always been better at home than on the road, although this year they will be pretty bad at both. For example, last year the Rockies only won 24 games away from Coors Field. That is awful. This year will be more of the same, with the Rays winning this game comfortably. In fact, this is our lock of the day. Pick: Tampa Bay - Lock

Loss (Lock Record 1-2)

Pittsburgh at Miami:

Even though we think the Marlins are going to be terrible, we can’t pick against them every day. We picked the Pirates in the first two, so by the law of averages we are going to go with the Marlins. Pick: Miami

Win

San Francisco at Cincinnati:

Justin Verlander is starting for the Giants, and while we talked about how much we like Max Scherzer earlier, we don’t have the same feelings about Verlander. The Reds are going to throw former top prospect Nick Lodolo, who has had some ups and downs in the big leagues. We like an up in this one as the Reds get the win. Pick: Cincinnati

Win

Cleveland at Kansas City:

Kansas City’s lineup is more dynamic than the Indians, but Cleveland’s takes more walks. Fortunately for the Royals they have Seth Lugo pitching in this one, who pounds the strike zone. He will have the Cleveland hitters off balance all day and will be effective enough for the Royals to get the win. Pick: Kansas City

Win

Boston at Texas:

Walker Buehler makes his Red Sox debut against a Rangers lineup that is very deep. Texas will run his pitch count up and he will be on a short hook since he didn’t pitch very many innings last year. We don’t trust Boston’s bullpen either, so we will ride with the Rangers. Pick: Texas

Win

New York Mets at Houston:

Even when we don’t like the Astros, we can’t deny that they love playing in their home stadium. We probably should have realized that earlier, but it is not lost on us. We are going to take the Astros in this game, with Spencer Arringhetti getting the win. Pick: Houston

Win

Atlanta at San Diego:

We think both of these teams will make the playoffs. Just like Chicago and Arizona, this is an early season series that can carry a lot of weight. Both teams need to get off to good starts with other good teams in the division, so this will be a competitive series. We picked the Braves earlier, so we are going to go with San Diego in this one. Pick: San Diego

Win

Chicago Cubs at Arizona:

Shota Imanaga quietly had a great year for the Cubs last year, and he looks to build on that momentum against the Diamondbacks. Arizona counters with Brandon Pfaadt, who had an up and down year in 2024 but looks to get back to what made him a stud in the 2023 playoffs. We are going to go with the Cubs to beat the Diamondbacks here. Pick: Chicago Cubs

Win

Detroit at Los Angeles Dodgers:

We can’t pick against the Dodgers two days in a row. This is an easy call for us. Dodgers get the win. Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers

Win

Athletics at Seattle:

We picked the Mariners the first two games, and that was because of their starting pitching. Game three is more of the same, with Bryce Miller getting the nod for Seattle. He has been very good in his short career and he always pitches well against the Athletics. We think that will happen again. Pick: Seattle

Loss

Happy picking everyone!
