Two straight solid days of picking brings our overall record to 29-22. Not great but not terrible to start. As always, if you want to see who we got right and who we got wrong go take a look at yesterday picks! Another full day of baseball awaits!

Kansas City at Milwaukee:

We like Kris Bubic as a pitcher and we don’t like what we have seen from Milwaukie to start the year. Give us the Royals to win this one. Pick: Kansas City

Win

Minnesota at Chicago White Sox:

Chris Paddack vs Martin Perez. The White Sox are looking a lot like last year, which is not a good thing. We like Chris Paddack as a pitcher and we trust the Twins’ lineup way more than the White Sox, so give us Minnesota to win in the opener of this series. Pick: Minnesota

Loss

Boston at Baltimore:

Boston is reeling after losing three games in a row to Texas, and now heads to Baltimore to face an Orioles team that beat up on them last year. Sean Newcomb is going to try and stop the bleeding for the Red Sox, but if they can’t get the offense going things are going to turn south in a hurry. We think they will continue to struggle and the Orioles will get the win. Pick: Baltimore

Win

Colorado at Philadelphia:

Colorado is bad. Philadelphia is not. This seems like an easy win for the Phillies. Philadelphia to roll in this one. Pick: Philadelphia

Win

New York Mets at Miami:

The Mets lost two of three in their opening series, while the Marlins took three out of four against the Pirates. We think that the Mets offense is still trying to figure it out, and it will sooner rather than later. In fact, we think it will figure it out starting today. New York’s bats get back on track and the Mets get the win here. In fact, this is our lock of the day.

Pick: Mets (Lock)

Win (Lock Record 2-3)

Texas at Cincinnati:

A Kumar Rocker sighting! Rocker lit up college baseball for Vanderbilt a few years ago, and now made his first opening day roster with the Rangers. Texas looked really good in taking three out of four against the Red Sox, but the Reds have one of the most underrated pitchers in the game going today. We really like Brady Singer and we think this will be a pitchers dual, but he will get the win. Pick: Cincinnati

Win

Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay:

The Pirates pitching staff really falls hard after Paul Skenes. Today they have Carmen Mlodzinski (had to double check the spelling) starting today. Mlodzinski has 75 major league appearances but only five starts. We don’t think he will go deep in this game and we don’t trust the Pirates bullpen. Give us the Rays to win. Pick: Tampa Bay

Win

Washington at Toronto:

Bo Bichette looks like he has rebounded from a terrible 2024, and is more like the all-star hitter the previous few seasons. That is a good sign for a Blue Jays team that desperately needs offense. We think his hot start will continue and he will lead the Blue Jays to victory in this one. Pick: Toronto

Win

Los Angeles Angels at St. Louis:

If this were a few years ago this would be one hell of a pitching matchup. Tyler Anderson for the Angels against Miles Mikolas for the Cardinals. Alas, it is 2025 and neither pitcher is that good anymore. We like Anderson better so we are going to go with the Angels to win a high scoring affair. Pick: Los Angeles Angels

Win

San Francisco at Houston:

The Houston Astros are throwing Ronel Blanco, who pitched a no hitter last year. The Giants are countering with Jordan Hicks, who has been up and down as a starter so far. We think today will be one of the down days and Blanco will pitch the Astros to victory. Pick: Houston

Loss

Cleveland at San Diego:

The biggest surprise of the first weekend was that San Diego swept a four game series against the Braves. Expectations were high for the Padres, but nobody expected this. Now they face a Guardians team that took two out of three against the Royals. Even though these pitchers aren’t well known, we are going to go with a pitchers dual that will be decided by the bullpens. Advantage Guardians in that one. Pick: Cleveland

Loss

Detroit at Seattle:

With George Kirby on the injured list to start the season, the Mariners are turning to former first round pick Emerson Hancock to lead the charge against the Tigers. Detroit is countering with Jackson Jobe, who was also a first round pick. Both of these guys have high pedigree but middling success in the big leagues. We give the edge to Jobe and the Tigers. Pick: Detroit

Win

Chicago Cubs at Athletics:

After losing the first two games in Tokyo, the Cubs split a four games series against the Diamondbacks. Things ease up for them now as they face an Athletics team that also split a four game series. We like Chicago to win the opener in this one. Pick: Cubs

Win

Atlanta at Los Angeles Dodgers:

Things don’t get any easier for the Braves after getting swept in a four game series by the Padres. Now they head up I-5 to face a Dodgers team that has let to lose a game. We are going to pick the Dodgers until they lose. Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers

Win

Happy picking everyone!
