We had no sporting events that we picked yesterday, so we took the night off and relaxed. Back at it today with more NBA action. Here are our picks!
NBA:
Dallas (-7) at Orlando:
Dallas has won four games in a row, including a nine point win against the Magic in Dallas last week. Now they face off in Orlando and the Magic don’t have Paolo Banchero. Without Banchero this is a double digit win for the Mavericks. Pick: Dallas 119 Orlando 106
Portland (-3.5) at Charlotte:
Damian Lillard makes his return for the Blazers against a Hornets team still missing LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward. Charlotte has lost five games in a row. It will be six after tonight. Pick: Portland 114 Charlotte 105
Denver (-5.5) at Indiana:
The Indiana Pacers have quietly won four out of their last five games, and now host a Nuggets team coming off of three straight wins. This is a tough game for us to predict, because we think Denver is 5-7 points better than Indiana. That is what Vegas thinks as well. We are going to go with the Nuggets to cover, but barely. Pick: Denver 116 Indiana 109
Utah at Atlanta (-4):
Both of these teams come into the game having won three straight, although the Hawks have done it against tougher competition. Utah is 5-0 at home this year, but only 4-3 away from Salt Lake City. Give us the Hawks to not only win, but cover the four point spread. Pick: Atlanta 122 Utah 114
Detroit at Boston (-13):
This is a matchup between one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference against one of the worst. Detroit is 0-5 on the road this season, and we expect them to lose tonight as well. The only question is by how much. Thirteen points is a huge spread and we think the Pistons keep it closer than that. Pick: Boston 123 Detroit 112
New York at Brooklyn (-3.5):
The Nets have played much better since Kyrie Irving was suspended and they fired Steve Nash. They are 2-1 in the three games since, with the only blemish being a two point loss to the Dallas Mavericks. This will be a low scoring game that the Knicks will not only cover, but win. Pick: New York 105 Brooklyn 98
Houston at Toronto (-10):
Losing Pascal Siakam is a big blow to the Raptors, who now face a Houston team beat the Magic in their last game. Toronto has only lost once at home, and it won’t be losing a second one tonight. However, the game will be within single digits as the Rockets keep it close. Pick: Toronto 108 Houston 101
New Orleans (-2) at Chicago:
The Pelicans have lost two games in a row, and now head to Chicago to face a Bulls team that won big against the Raptors on Monday. Chicago has a good home record and New Orleans has a bad road record, so we are going with the Bulls to beat the Pelicans. Pick: Chicago 113 New Orleans 107
Phoenix at Minnesota (-1.5):
Chris Paul and Cameron Johnson are both missing this game for the Suns, which is why the Timberwolves are favored. Phoenix has only played three of their first ten games on the road, and they have a 1-2 record to show for it. We like Minnesota to get it done today because of the aforementioned absence of Chris Paul. Pick: Minnesota 110 Phoenix 102
Milwaukee (-1.5) at Oklahoma City:
The only reason why this line is so low is because Giannis and Jrue Holiday aren’t playing for the Bucks. Despite missing their two best players, they are still favored on the road. That is how deep this team is. Having said that, give us the Thunder to get the win today. Pick: Oklahoma City 106 Milwaukee 100
Memphis (-5.5) at San Antonio:
Memphis lost a hard fought game to the Celtics on Monday, and will have a much easier time against a Spurs team that has lost four games in a row. Only one of the last four games has been by single digits. We think that trend will continue and Memphis wins big. Pick: Memphis 121 San Antonio 105
Los Angeles Lakers at Los Angeles Clippers (-3):
Today we have the first battle of the city of angels this season, as the Clippers and Lakers square off. The Lakers are back to their losing ways, having lost three games in a row since getting their first two wins of the season. Even without Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers should still win this game comfortably. Pick: Los Angeles Clippers 117 Los Angles Lakers 102
Cleveland (-4.5) at Sacramento:
The Cavaliers lost their first game since their opener on Monday, at the hands of the Clippers. Now they head to Sacramento to face a Kings team that is playing better lately, but still doesn’t have the wins to show for it. We like Cleveland to get back in the win column today, covering to do so. Pick: Cleveland 120 Sacramento 112
Happy picking everyone!
