Today we get our first taste of the full slate of the NFL, as well as some more NBA action. We had a winning record yesterday with the NBA, so let’s see if we can get two days in a row!

NBA:

Portland at Los Angeles Lakers (-3.5):

The Lakers have looked awful so far this season, and are now playing a Blazers team that has started 2-0. I don’t think many people expected this start from the Blazers. We definitely didn’t. We think they are handed their first loss of the season to LeBron and the Lakers today. Pick: Los Angeles Lakers 121 Portland 112

Charlotte at Atlanta (-10):

So far the Dejounte Murray and Trae Young partnership has yielded fantastic results, with both guys averaging a double double after two games. Now they head home to face a Hornets team still missing LaMelo Ball. We like Atlanta to cover the double digit spread today, and win big against Charlotte. Pick: Atlanta 127 Charlotte 110

Washington at Cleveland (-3.5):

The Wizards are the second of the three teams playing today that has surprisingly started 2-0. Of the three, we think the Wizards have the best chance to stay undefeated. They are facing a Cleveland team that is still trying to gel with Donovan Mitchell. It takes time to incorporate a player like that into your lineup, and we like Washington to get the win today. Pick: Washington 114 Cleveland 107

Utah at New Orleans (-8):

Utah is the final surprising undefeated team playing today. We know that Utah will be tanking this year, but no one has told their players that. They are playing hard, and without any expectations are playing free. New Orleans is also undefeated, but that isn’t as big a surprise. Give us the Pelicans to hold serve and bring a dose of reality to the Jazz. Pick: New Orleans 125 Utah 106

Minnesota (-8.5) at Oklahoma City:

These two played in the opening game of the season, with the Timberwolves winning by seven on their home court. Now they are expected to win by more on the road? We are going to keep picking the Thunder to lose but cover until it stops happening. It won’t be today. Pick: Minnesota 112 Oklahoma City 106

Sacramento at Golden State (-9.5):

Sacramento has not gotten off to the start they were hoping for. The Kings still have a lot of talent, and being almost double digit underdogs doesn’t seem right. The Warriors defense has not looked good, and the Kings have been shooting the ball wall. Give us the Warriors to win, but it will be closer than the experts anticipate. Pick: Golden State 125 Sacramento 120

Phoenix at Los Angeles Clippers (-1.5):

Paul George scored 40 points in his last game, firmly taking the mantle aAs the leader of this Clippers team. Kawhi Leonard will be coming off the bench and will be missing games this season, to make sure he is ready for the playoffs. Chris Paul is looking like a 37 year old player, averaging only eight points a game, and he hasn’t made a three yet. Give us the Clippers to cover. Pick: Los Angeles Clippers 118 Phoenix 112

NFL:

Atlanta at Cincinnati (-6.5):

Atlanta has covered the spread in every game so far this season. They are only 3-3 to show for it, but they are playing close games. We expect another one here. The Bengals will win but the Falcons will cover. Pick: Cincinnati 30 Atlanta 24

Detroit at Dallas (-7):

Dak Prescott is back for the Cowboys, but the Lions are coming off a bye. That is good for a team that plays as hard as the Lions do. This team plays their asses off, they just aren’t talented. This is another game where we like the favorite to win, but not cover. Give us the Lions and the points. Pick: Dallas 27 Detroit 24

Indianapolis at Tennessee (-2.5):

Is it just me or does it seem like these two teams play like five times a season? Nevertheless, it is another AFC South matchup between the Titans and Colts. These two teams played just three weeks ago, and the Titans came away with a road win. We expect another Titans win, and they will cover this one as well. Pick: Tennessee 24 Indianapolis 20

Green Bay (-4) at Washington:

Green Bay has been losing games they should win. They lost to the Giants and the Jets, and now face a Commanders team that is down Carson Wentz at quarterback. We think this will be the get right game for the Packers and they will win big. Pick: Green Bay 38 Washington 17

Tampa Bay (-13) at Carolina:

Another team needing a get right game is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They are playing probably the worst team in the NFL, especially after the Panthers traded away Christian McCaffrey. Even though the Panthers are bad, we expect a ten point game, so give us Carolina. Pick: Tampa Bay 34 Carolina 24

New York Giants at Jacksonville (-3):

Las Vegas does not respect the New York Giants. They are 5-1 and are looking really strong. Brian Daboll is doing a great job as a first year head coach, and he has the Giants rolling. New York will not only cover the spread, they will win the game. Pick: New York Giants 30 Jacksonville 27

Cleveland at Baltimore (-6.5):

Cleveland has been treading water, waiting for Deshaun Watson to come back. Now they are facing a Baltimore team that can’t get out of their own way to get wins. They have blown two big leads this year, but it won’t be a third. Give us the Ravens to cover. Pick: Baltimore 27 Cleveland 13

New York Jets (-1.5) at Denver:

Brett Rypien is starting this game for the Broncos. That is all you need to know. Pick: New York Jets 24 Denver 10

Houston at Las Vegas (-7):

Las Vegas is another team that needs a get right game. They are talented, but have nothing to show for it. This is the week they get out of the cellar of the AFC West and back into the playoff hunt. Davonte Adams will have a huge game and the Raiders will win comfortably. Pick: Las Vegas 34 Houston 17

Seattle at Los Angeles Chargers (-5):

This game will be a shoot out. Both have high powered offenses (didn’t think we would be saying that about Seattle, but here we are) and both defenses are prone to give up the play. Give us the Seahawks to cover, but the Chargers to win. Pick: Los Angeles Chargers 41 Seattle 38

Kansas City (-1) at San Francisco:

A rematch from the Super Bowl a couple years ago has the 49ers hosting the Chiefs. We think that this game will go a lot like that Super Bowl did, with the Chiefs winning the game. We trust Patrick Mahomes a lot more than Jimmy G. Pick: Kansas City 27 San Francisco 21

Pittsburgh at Miami (-7.5):

Pittsburgh is looking to prove last week wasn’t a fluke. Tua will be back with the Dolphins this week. This game has plenty of intrigue but it won’t be a well played game. Give us the Steelers to cover as it will take some time for Tua to get his footing back. Pick: Miami 20 Pittsburgh 14

Happy picking everyone!
