Full slate of NFL action plus more NBA. We are riding high after a winning record yesterday with our College Football picks. Let’s see if we can continue it with professional football today!
NBA:
New Orleans at Los Angeles Clippers (-3):
Both teams are missing key players in this game. Kawhii Leonard is out for the Clippers and Brandon Ingram is out for the Pelicans. Add to that Zion Williamson is still nursing an injury, and this game will be won by the role players. The Clippers have better role players than the Pelicans, so give us Los Angeles to cover. Pick: Los Angeles Clippers 114 New Orleans 107
Washington at Boston (-8.5):
Boston is coming into this game having lost two games in a row, and now have an identical 3-2 record as the Wizards. With both of these teams having the same amount of rest we give the edge to the Celtics to win the game. However, we think Washington will keep it close and will cover the spread. Pick: Boston 122 Washington 117
New York at Cleveland (-4):
Cleveland has won four games in a row since their opening night defeat, and have done it despite missing Darius Garland. Donovan Mitchell is doing everything the Cavaliers wanted him to do and more, averaging 31 points a game so far. The Knicks haven’t won a road game yet. We don’t see it happening today. Pick: Cleveland 118 New York 106
Golden State (-7) at Detroit:
Another team that has yet to win a road game is the Golden State Warriors. They are 0-2 away from Oracle arena. That will change today as they get the win over the Pistons, but it will be close. Pick: Golden State 113 Detroit 108
Minnesota (-5.5) at San Antonio:
These two teams have already played twice, having split the two games in Minnesota. Now they head to the lone star state to square off for a third time. Both of these teams are 4-2, which is surprising for the San Antonio Spurs. We like the Timberwolves to not only win, but cover. Pick: Minnesota 124 San Antonio 113
Orlando at Dallas (-9.5):
Orlando finally got their first win of the season in their last game, a 113-93 win over the Hornets. Meanwhile, the Mavericks have played two straight overtime games, including last night. We think that Dallas will be tired, and the Magic will be flying high after their first win. Give us the Magic to pull off the upset. Pick: Orlando 125 Dallas 121
Houston at Phoenix (-12.5):
The Suns have won three games in a row, all against teams that are expected to make the playoffs. The Rockets have lost two games in a row against teams that aren’t. Phoenix is better than Houston. We just think this line is too high. Pick: Phoenix 127 Houston 119
Denver (-3.5) at Los Angeles Lakers:
The Lakers still haven’t won a game. We don’t see that happening here. We are going to pick them to lose every game until they get it done. Pick: Denver 129 Los Angeles Lakers 117
